Shane Lowry and Thomas Levet tied at the second spot
One of the most prestigious events on the European Tour, the Lyoness Open finally comes to an end. The best in the world of golf gathered at this stage to fight for glory.
The four day event which started on the 25th of July ended on the 28th of July. The venue for this auspicious event was the Diamond Country Club in Atzenbrugg, Austria.
Players exhibited outstanding golf in the tournament, nonetheless, in the end there could be only one champion. The list of players who gave an extraordinary performance also includes Shane Lowry and Thomas Levet.
Shane Lowry improved his game each day. On the first day, he carded five birdies and just three bogeys. These made his score two-under par for the day.
On the second day, he again scored five birdies but his round included only one bogey which made his score four-under par for the day.
His third round score was the same as the second day. He managed seven birdies on the day and just three bogeys. These made his score four-under par for the day and his total score became ten-under par.
Despite the bad start, the last round was the best one for the Irish player. He started off with two bogeys on the first and fifth hole. From there Lowry turned his game around.
He carded an eagle and two birdies on the front nine and scored four more birdies on the back nine. These made his score six-under par for the day.
Thomas Levet played a similar game to Shane Lowry. The first day was the best one for Levet. He managed eight birdies and a single bogey on the day. These made his score seven-under par.
In the second and third round, he scored two-under par and three-under par, respectively. On the last day, he carded two birdies on the front nine and three birdies on the back nine. His day included only one bogey which came on the seventeenth hole.
Both the players had a brilliant score of sixteen-under par and were just three strokes behind the leader of the tournament, Bernd Wiesberger.
