Question:

Shane Mosley Can Take Mayweather?

Saw this boxing analyst talking about possible Mayweather fights, obviously Cotto was the main man that was being spoken about. Then this analyst just randomly throws out Shane Mosley's name, stating that he believes Mosley is the only guy that can keep close to mayweather's ring speed, punch faster and with more power and make contact on Pretty Boy Floyd. You think Mosley would be a challenge?

  1. If Shane is smart, he would stray FAR away from Mayweather...and even in his prime would.

Boxing analysts have a tendency to put speed up there as a golden arch to have on your lists of skills to have as a boxer. If you are fast, you can likely beat anyone. Thats not true.

Mosely has very fast hands, but not alot of skills. He walks straight in, flurries as fast as he can, and keeps going with that game plan. Mosely has never fought, or for that matter walked past, a fighter as seasoned or skilled, much less as fast, as Floyd Mayweather. Period.

Floyd has speed too, but his is both hands AND feet. He also can fight off of angles. He can lay traps and whallop you and get out of your way before you know you got hit. He can stand in front of you and not get hit despite your best efforts.

There is no evidence that says that Mayweather has a problem dealing with speed at all. And Mosely lost his wheels awhile ago...he cant keep twelve rounds of blistering hand speed up. Sooner or later he is going to slow down...and EVERYONE knows that Mayweather could fight twenty rounds without breaking a serious sweat (really...when is the last time you saw Mayweather with his mouth open fighting for breath?)

Nope, sorry...even in Mosely's prime...Mayweather would have exposed him for being a shoeshine artist and made him look REALLY stupid. If Mosely tried now he would likely get knocked out.

  2. h**l yeah he would!, Mosely is old , but he still is quik , and a hard puncher, the fight with cotto , mosely did really good for his age, And the thing with mosely is if you hit him , he will retalliate really quik , like the fight with DLH(he did a h**l of a job) and cotto , with many more other fights , so if mayweather thinks he is going to jab at mosely all day, then he is in for a big suprise cause mosely would scratch like a cat, he is quik , he has more experience , and yes, i beleive he would give mayeather a REALLY hard time in the ring

  3. i say shane would have won in his prime but i dont know now the above comment was right mayweather is no sugar ray robinson ir this was 25 years ago i think boxers like roberto duran, ray lenord, tommy herns, marven hagler could have all took mayweather

  4. you are correct the speed would be equal & I agree Shane hits harder.   I think the difference is Floyd is more defensive & harder to hit & Mosley takes a  better punch but is easy to hit.   Mayweather by unanimous decision.

  5. I will show no bias towards Mosley even though I am a fan. I say it is a pick em' fight depending on which Mosley shows up. The walk forward Jr. Middleweight Mosley would do better because he would concentrate on power. Let's be real. Mosley is too old to box a prime Mayweather but his heart is twice the size of Money Mayweather's and his experience speaks for itself. Throw out past fights and look at both fighters in a competitive match. Mosley would do what Oscar could not do and that is finish strong. Mosley was attempting to walk a younger  and stronger Cotto down in the championship rounds. To me that says something. Mosley would be up for Mayweather and Mayweather would be amped up also. We could be looking at a fight of the decade. I admire Mayweather's skills even though I am a die hard Mosley fan. No loser in that fight. The fans get what they want. Mayweather in a do or die contest and Mosley looking at his finest chance to shine. I get goose bumps just thinking about it...

  6. i think mosley can beat flyd even though his no longer in his prime. floyd avoided mosley likea plague his whole carrer. and he stil ldont want nothing to do with past prime mosley

  7. Can we stop with the speed thing already. I've seen power KO speed and I've seen speed outpoint power! Don't make me list every fight In the past 100 years that has proved this time and time again!

With that said I think Mosley would give PBF the fight of his life. Like someone mentioned up there, PBF has avoided Sugar since forever. Why hasn't he fought him ? Because PBF is a cherry picker. Hatten calls him out! He wants to fight him immediately! Cotto called him out in his last fight and he mentioned PBF specifically And I don't see PBF racing to get that going.

  8. that would be a great match, but i believe that floyd would win.

    DE

  9. Yep, I always though Shane Mosley would have beat Floyd.  Recently age has begun to creep up on Mosley, but I still think Floyd would be in the fight of his life with Shane.

  10. He could, but then again, boxing is soo screwed up lately that it has fallen off my chart of favorite sports.  Floyd only fights twice a year, not enough for me.  And he can do it b/c of corruption and he gets paid like 5mil everytime he turns around.  Whatever happened to fighters like Sugar Ray Robinson or Young Mike who would just go out and fight?

  11. mayweather would probabl win becuase i noticed high powered  energy in his punches

  12. I dont know were people get this ideal, that Shane is faster. Shane wasn't faster than Cotto and it showed in the last fight. Mosley dont have power. Why couldn't he knock Winky out, when he gave him two free shots to the head? Mosley lost to two guys the same way twice. You got to give shane credit for bringing a good fight but people are trying to make him this super boxer. Mayweather would out box him. He let Cotto out box him. Yes, styles make fights. PBF is 10 time a boxer than Cotto. I would love to see both guy's fight. PBF wins, Mosley was past his prime. Mosley win, yeh he beat PbF. I told you he wasn't fight anybody. Cotto can beat him to because he lost to Mosley. It's not " can Mosley beat PBF", its "can anybody come and beat him"? I guess so the haters can stop holding there breath. Mosley has never been a complete boxer. Steward was even saying the same thing durning the Cotto fight. Mosley has never been a boxer but has a stance like one.

  13. If anyone has a chance it's Mosely. Cotto's probably too slow.

  14. It is very hard to decide, if mayweather just did what he did with oscar and run, than yeah, he would win... but if he wanted to go punch for punch, then no, he will not win... he does not have as much power as mosley...
