Shane Mosley: I will nail Saul Alvarez to become the world champion for the seventh time – Boxing News
Shane Mosley, the former WBA Super World welterweight champion, is ready to make a huge comeback and recently reiterated his resolve to become the world champion for the seventh time and remarked that the fans will witness a hungry Shane who will definitely
pin Saul Alvarez hence fortifying his ‘Mexicutioner’ reputation.
Shane and Saul will meet at MGM Grand situated in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States and will co-headline the pay-per-view organised and promoted by Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions.
The Saturday night event will be televised live on May 5, 2012 and will be headlined by the bout between Floyd Mayweather Junior and Miguel Cotto. Shane, also known as the ‘Sugar’, has an upper hand when it comes to experience.
The veteran pugilists has enjoyed an illustrious career and grabbed many titles in different divisions. He is considered as the best pound-for-pound pugilist who has achieved the unique feat of being the six-time world champion in different divisions.
Shane has been in a total 55 bouts and emerged victorious in 46. He has collected 39 of his wins by knockout and is returning after a one-year gap. The 40-year-old Mosley last fought against the Filipino proud Manny Pacquiao and unfortunately was unable
to put up a great show eventually collecting a unanimous decision loss.
In addition, the former WBC light middleweight champion, Mosley, fought against Floyd Mayweather and again collected a unanimous decision loss. The American proud currently has two wins one draw and two losses in his last five bouts and is in dire need to
skim off the image of being an old veteran brawler who needs to hang up his gloves.
The aspect that makes this bout interesting is the fact that Shane is famous for being an annihilator of Mexican pugilists. He has fought against five Mexican top-notch pugilists and emphatically nailed all of them. Saul, his Saturday night opponent, is
also a Mexican.
During the short interview at Big Bear where he has setup his training camp for the last 12 years, Shane commented, “Canelo has a good style. He is very strong but has a lot to learn.”
While continuing to share his thoughts about the upcoming bout, Mosley said, “I grew up in California I have faced a lot of Mexican fighters as an amateur and pro. Canelo has a different style. But you will see a very hungry, focused Shane Mosley and I’ll
be willing to scrap.”
The boxing fanatics are duly eyeballing the bout with great interest and excitement. The clash will definitely be a terrific one since Saul, 21, will defend his title for the fourth time along with the long win streak and Mosley needs to defend his reputation
of being the Mexican-obliterator in addition to making a comeback.
