Shane Mosley Jr. set to make Fight Night Club debut
19-year old Shane Mosley Jr. is preparing to inherit a boxing dynasty.
On October 28, he’ll make his debut on Fight Night Club in Los Angeles in an amateur bout on the undercard of Gary Russell Jr. vs. Guadalupe De Leon.
'Sugar' Shane Mosley, will undoubtedly be in attendance, though not just as an avid boxing enthusiast and fighter, but as a father too.
Mosley Jr. will take on Ivan Lazaro of Carson, California, and has already garnered a slew of rave reviews on account of his talents in the ring. Mix that in with that the fact that he has been able to learn from his father, and it’s pretty easy to see how
big things could be expected of him in upcoming years.
"I'm very proud of Shane Jr. and I know all the hard work he's been putting into his boxing career," said Shane Sr. "This is a tough sport, but he's got the heart, determination and talent to make it."
Fight Night Club is presented by Golden Boy Promotion, for whom Mosley is contractually employed.
Mosley has been resting since his controversial draw to Sergio Mora on September 18. Most people, including ringside commentators felt that he squeezed out a close victory, but all agreed it was uncharacteristically dull and painful to watch. Mora respected
Mosley too much and didn’t appear willing to engage, while Mosley did what he could against a man who didn’t come to fight.
With over 50 fights, Mosley has said that he would like one more opportunity at a relevant boxing title, and that afterward, he may retire. He has already outlasted longtime rivals Oscar De la Hoya, Vernon Forest and Fernando Vargas.
Depending on the outcome of the November 13 fight between Antonio Margarito and Manny Pacquiao, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum has said that Mosley would present a future challenge to Pacquiao.
The fight would likely be contracted in the welterweight division, since 'Pacman' has made it clear he will not remain a junior middleweight following the Margarito fight.
