http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Shillingford-c2397 is most likely to play in the remainder
of the series.
West Indies lost the first Test of the series at Lord’s by five wickets after a fighting performance. The visitors went in the match with an all-out pace attack, supported by part-time off-spin of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marlon-Nathaniel-Samuels-c74804.
Shillingford has done well for West Indies recently, as he grabbed ten wickets in the last Test he played against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 back home.
Historically, spinners have not enjoyed bowling at Lord’s because of the slope and a flat batting track. This is one of the major reasons why West Indies opted for four seam bowlers for the game.
Sammy, however, revealed that Shillingford was not finding it easy to grip the ball before the first Test because of the cold weather. The off-spinner has worked hard in the nets during the match and has acclimatised in England now. Medium-fast bowler, Shannon
Gabriel, is most likely to make way for the off-spinner.
"Shane was experiencing a bit of difficulty gripping the ball but in the course of this Test match he has done some work and hopefully his fingers will be warm enough and ready for him to play for us in the next match. He played a crucial role in the last
series and once he is ready to master the cold we will have him in," Sammy expressed.
Interestingly, question marks were raised about Shillingford’s bowling action in 2010 and it remains to be seen whether he is allowed to bowl freely on the tour or not.
While talking about the performance of his bowlers, Sammy showed his satisfaction over the effort put in by the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fidel-Henderson-Edwards-c57010 but conceded that the two fast bowlers should have grabbed more wickets.
He added, "Our pacers have been doing a good job for us throughout the last year or two. A few more wickets between Fidel and Roach could have been a different story."
