Shane Warne backs England to win 2010-11 Ashes Series Down Under

The England cricket team has come up by leaps and bounds in recent times, building on the momentum gained after winning the Ashes series back in 2009 at home. England went on to win the 2010 Twenty20 World Cup against all odds, and just last week completed an impressive 3-2 ODI series win against Australia. However, England have not been able to win the Ashes in Australia for more than 2 decades, and will finally be hoping to get the record straight at the end of this year when they head Down Under.

http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 legend Shane Warne, who retired from the game back in 2006, believes that England this year have their best chance to finally win the Ashes in Australia.

Back in 1986-87, England won their last Ashes in Australia, and the new breed of English players have what it takes to take on Australia in their own backyard.

England has a number of new names who have given the team a whole new look, and there is an air of confidence in the outlook of the team. In 2005, England looked to be whole new team with Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen; the ability to stand up to the Aussies shown especially by those two players gave England a chance to be aggressive against Australia.

In bowling, there was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Hoggard-c1926, who mastered the art of reverse swing to knock over the Aussies.

However, the important thing to consider now is that from the names just mentioned, only Kevin Pietersen is still part of England set up. Still, that does not mean that England are weaker by any means, as the new names in the team are certainly good enough to add value to the team.

http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Craig-Kieswetter-c51708, the right hand opener and wicketkeeper, has become one of the most top rated young batsmen in world cricket; his opening partner Michael Lumb is equally good if not better; and not to forget, the most impressive Eoin Morgan, also known as the Michael Hussey of England. Morgan has an amazing ability to stay cool in the tensest situations, and may be the man for England when it comes to crunch situations Down Under.

Australia’s retired leg spinner Shane Warne believes that the off spinner Graeme Swann will be one of the most important players in the England team if they are to have any chance of retaining the Ashes.

Warne said that it has been long since England had the measure of Australia in all forms of the game, and it certainly is refreshing and beneficial for the game as a whole.

Warne said that England have simply outplayed Australia in recent games, and the amount of consistency is very impressive.

Shane Warne played his last Ashes in 2006-07, when Australia hosted England after losing the urn in 2005. Australia won that series 5-0.

Warne said that England have every reason to be optimistic about touring Australia this year, and he has no doubt that Australia will have to be at their best to avoid back-to-back Ashes losses.

He said that it is true that Australia has not been as strong at home as they used to be. Australia recently lost to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, but they will still throw everything they have at their old rivals.

Shane Warne, who has 708 test wickets to his name from 145 Tests, especially pointed out off-spinner Swann as the man to have a significant influence in the outcome of series.

Shane Warne believes Swann is a much improved bowler; he has learned the art of flight and the use of length.

Warne said that being a spinner himself, he knows that in a test match especially when it comes down to the final day of a test match, a quality spinner can be more devastating than actually 2 or 3 better-than-average fast bowlers.

Warne said he hopes England do not lose the momentum till the end of the year, so that a good battle can take place between the two archrivals in probably the most highly anticipated Ashes series for years.
