Shane Warne believes inexperience and bad luck cost Rajasthan Royals – IPL News
Rajasthan Royals’ captain Shane Warne expressed that ‘inexperience and bad luck’ as major causes of his team’s humiliating nine-wicket defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders, on Friday.
After two consecutive emphatic victories in the Indian Premier League, Warne XI was thrashed by the Kolkata side at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, where the Royals had near flawless track record before the game.
Chasing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gautam-Gambhir-c58623 and the South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis played fabulously, putting together a fantastic unbeaten partnership of 152 runs for the second wicket. They eventually steered the
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599 Riders outfit to achieve the target with nine balls remaining.
"We couldn`t executive our plans and luck too was not in our favour. A few edges could have flown straight to fielders. A little inexperience, too cost us dearly," Warne said.
The Royals stepped into the game with a stronger line-up than the past matches, as the blistering all-rounder Shane Watson joined the outfit a day before the match.
After losing the toss, the Royals were asked to bat first, and they could only manage to score 159 runs in 20 overs. The Royals’ fans were shocked by Warne’s decision, when he did not put the in-form Watson at the opening position.
Warne, however, explained that his side had the plan to get http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 out at the crease around the 12th over after laying down a decent foundation. However, Watson could not capitalise on the situation after hitting a couple of massive
hits.
Rajasthan’s skipper further admitted that the slow batting in the middle-overs let the team down.
"We were bogged in the middle overs and perhaps landed 15 run short. But a score of 159 was at par with our expectations but I thought 15 more was possible," the former Australian leg-spinner added.
Meanwhile, Warne defended his decision to include http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Johan-Botha-c67173 in the playing XI ahead of Australian pacer Shaun Tait. The captain expressed that anybody can pick a better team after the defeat, but the team had some strategy which did not work at the end
of the day.
Deploring on the team’s not-so-impressive bowling performance, Warne hoped that the players would show up with improved commitment in the upcoming matches in the competition.
