Shane Warne has called on off-spinner Nathan Hauritz to prove that he is the number one spinner in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at the moment.
Warne, who is considered as the best spinner of all time, has backed Hauritz for the selection in the first Test. As Ashes is just around the corner, speculations are ripe regarding the final 11 for the first Test. A number of Aussie players are in contention
for selection in the first Test and it remains to be seen that what selectors would opt for.
The leg-spinner endorsed Hauritz’s selection ahead of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854’s Xavier Doherty for the first Test against England. Australia’s Chairman of Selectors, Andrew Hilditch publicly declared that national selectors face a big decision in the spin department.
Xavier Doherty was named in the 17-man Australian squad for the Ashes. Both Doherty and Hauritz will go head-to-head in the Sheffield Shield match between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 and Tasmania at Sydney Cricket ground.
The great spin wizard believes Nathan Hauritz has done enough to cement his spot for Brisbane Test.
Hauritz did put up a good show against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in the home series when he managed 18 wickets in 3 Tests with two 5-wicket hauls.
Warne also said that Hauritz should talk to his skipper, Ricky Ponting and decide a suitable fielding for him in order to make him more attacking.
But in the recently concluded Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 he was not at all effective. He was expensive and failed to keep the batsmen under any pressure. He only managed 6 wickets from four innings.
Australia’s coach, Tim Nielson said that because of slowness of wickets and lack of bounce in India, Hauritz was unable to get the assistance which he normally gets in Australia.
Warne also said that Xavier Doherty is also ready to answer the call if required. He said that if Hauritz doesn’t do well than there are people like Doherty and Steven Smith, and these other options are a good sign for Australian cricket.
