Former Australian spinner Shane Warne has predicted that David Warner will go onto make a big century against New Zealand in the second Test of the two match series at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 on Friday, December 9, 2011.
Warner was earlier considered to be a good player of One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 cricket and he proved that by giving some solid performances, especially in the shortest version of the game.
However, the Aussie side has struggled to find the perfect opening combination since the retirement of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Justin-Lee-Langer-c69712.
This has provided an opportunity for someone like Warner to come up and make a name in longest version of the game.
The 25-year-old opener made his Test debut against New Zealand in a recently concluded match, but was unable to make a solid impression.
He was dismissed after scoring three runs in the first innings and did not get a chance to prove his mettle in the second outing, as the opposition had only set a target of 19 runs.
However, the important thing was that Warner remained unbeaten on 12 with the help of three crispy boundaries. He will look to continue the same flow in the Hobart Test and possibly score a big one to impress the selectors.
According to Warne, the flamboyant batsman does have the ability to prevail in the longest format of cricket.
The legendary spinner stated, “I am a big fan of David Warner. He has got a good technique and I reckon he is going to get a massive hundred in the Test match that starts tomorrow (Friday). I was hoping a few years ago http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 would throw him up
to open in the (Sheffield) Shield just to give him a chance.”
He further added, “Now he is popular, he is a good character, he is a good fielder and he is a good bloke too. I have absolutely no doubt he can be successful at Test level and I hope they http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adrian-Roger-Kirshaw-Pierson-c42135 with him.”
Tomorrow’s match will be crucial for Warner, as his performance will determine the possibility of him being a part of the upcoming home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 or not.
