Shane Warne fined heavily for tiff with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 official
One of the most compelling characters in the history of cricket, Australian legend Shane Warne is in the thick of another controversy as he endures a heavy fine for his outburst at a leading official of his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, the Rajasthan
Royals.
The 41-year-old Warne is captain of the Royals who have been knocked out of this year’s championship after a string of defeats in the 10 team competition.
The second highest wicket taker in Test match cricket was fined about $50,000 after a bust-up with Sanjay Dixit who is the Secretary of the Rajasthan State Cricket Association, Warne was reportedly seething after a defeat for his franchise in a match played
at the home ground for the 2008 Champions of the cash-rich league.
The Rajasthan Association wanted the Australian to be banned for the upcoming match of the franchise, however, the BCCI flexed its muscles and curtailed the punishment to a heavy fine.
In a statement, the BCCI stated that a committee had probed the incident and their recommendations were being implemented, it added that the committee "regards the public criticism of Mr. Dixit as being a serious breach by Mr. Warne of his IPL playing contract."
The BCCI added: "However, at the same time, the commission also recognizes that Mr. Warne has apologized to Mr. Dixit, and that the incident occurred just after the match."
Warne stated that he had gotten carried away in the heat of the moment as he was terribly disappointed at the loss and ended up venting his frustration at the Secretary.
He confronted Dixit and clearly incensed, asked him who chose the playing surface for Rajasthan's last two home matches against Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore - both of which the Royals lost, Warne told him that he had told the authorities
that he preferred to play on another wicket yet his request was brushed aside.
Warne, who left test and ODI cricket after a highly successful career at the start of 2007, has remained embroiled in one controversy after another in his illustrious career.
He had to sit out the 2003 World Cup in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 after failing a dope test; subsequently he was banned for one year, yet bounced back strongly to reach the top of the mark in Test match bowling.
He announced that he would not return to IPL next year and the game ag. Bang and wallop format, where he made a real mark despite starting off after his international career, was over.
