Shane Warne interested in consultancy role in the Indian Premier League
The legendary Australian leg-spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shane-Keith-Warne-c89672, who played his last Indian Premier League game for Rajasthan Royals last night, has clarified that he would not be returning to the cash-rich Twenty20 league as a full time coach next season. However, he
showed interest in continuing his IPL career in a consultancy role.
"This is my last game, never say never but at this stage of my life I don`t see myself playing a game again. I am certainly not coming back as full time coach," Warne said.
Warne is 41 years old and he admitted that he was not 100 percent fit throughout the tournament. Citing his IPL career as a fantastic period of his life, the former Aussie cricketer added, "I won`t be 100 per cent in the entire tournament. Definitely no
point in being here for seven weeks if you are not playing. I may come in as consultant may be ten days prior or some time in between. If they are http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Willey-c81951 watch it on the telly."
Warne led his side to an emphatic 10-wicket victory over the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians on Friday, May 20, 2011.
After being asked to bowl first, the Royals restricted Indians to a meagre total of 133, courtesy of Shane Watson’s excellent bowling figures of 3 for 19 in four overs.
Later in the match, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 continued his good work with the bat and smashed a fabulous inning of 89 runs in which the Aussie all-rounder struck 9 boundaries and 6 sixes.
The Royals eventually overwhelmed the target comfortably in 13.1 overs, without losing a wicket.
Enormously delighted over finishing his job for RR on a winning note, Warne claimed that his team was the best side in the tournament but unluckily they could not make it into the play-offs.
Considering Watson as one of the very best cricketers in the world, the former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 skipper heaped special praise on him for his match-winning inning.
Meanwhile, Warne stated that he has plans to establish an academy for spinners where anyone can come and get training for free.
