Shane Warne lashes out at media, iterates support for Ricky Ponting
Cricketing great Shane Warne has panned the critics who said that the tweet that he had put up on Twitter signified the breaking down of his relationship with former teammate Ricky Ponting. Warne reiterated
that he supported Ponting, whom he played with for 12 years, in his captaincy of the Australian side. The former Australian leg-spinner had questioned the field placements that Ponting had given to Nathan Hauritz in the Bangalore Test match and that had resulted
in a 2-0 win for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.

Warne wrote on his official website, "I find it staggering, but not surprising, how much factually incorrect rubbish I've read since I was quietly sitting on my couch last week talking out loud to the TV
and answering my followers on Twitter!!,"

He also questioned the people’s need to sensationalise the smallest of details. Warne exhorted the media to report only the facts. He said, "I don't know why so many people feel the need to exaggerate and
sensationalise one sentence. Please, just report the facts!!!

Warne had tweeted, ''How the h**l can Hauritz bowl to this field??'' Warne tweeted. ''Feeling for Hauritz, terrible!! What are these tactics? Sorry Ricky but what are you doing.''

However, Ponting had later clarified that the fields that had been set for the off-spinner had been demanded by the bowler himself. It was also reported that Warne and Ponting had then exchanged text messages
and patched up.

Warne said that he had never meant to criticise Ponting for his captaincy and nor had he said that Ponting’s time as the captain had been up.

He added: “Commentators on the match, cricket journalists and even the Indian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, have agreed with my Tweet. It was an observation, not an attack!” Warne also added that Ponting needed to
continue leading the side.

However, Warne did admit that Ponting had been disappointed with his Tweet and had expressed so in a text message. Warne said, "Yes - Ricky was disappointed with my Tweet and expressed his disappointment
via SMS to which I replied "should I take you off the Christmas card list?"

Ponting has been under a lot of pressure as a captain and a batsman after having lost three successive Test matches going into the Ashes. In 2009, Ponting had become the first captain since the early 1930s
to lose the Ashes twice. The Ashes starts from 25 November this year.
