Shane Warne nominated for Australian Cricket Hall of Fame- Cricket News Update
The former Australian legendary spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allan-Robert-Border-c43726 Medal ceremony held at Melbourne’ s Crown Casino, on Monday, Feb 27, 2012.
The 42-year old right-arm spinner was evidently thrilled to be nominated and further expressed his gratitude after he was considered for the prestigious award.
"To be mentioned in the same breath as some of those cricketers who have already been inducted into the Hall of Fame, and to be inducted so soon after my international retirement, is a great privilege," said Warne.
Warne, who started his career at the age of 23, played his first Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 the same year. He has taken 708 wickets in 145 Test matches, along with 293 victims in 194
ODIs.
The King of Spin was the leading wicket-taker in Test cricket before http://www.senore.com/Cricket/M-Muralitharan-c1864 broke his record in 2007. With over 1000 combined wickets across all formats, Shane remains the second highest wicket-taker in world cricket.
For his magical bowling, he was also selected as one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Century by cricket experts in 2000, and is widely regarded as the greatest spin bowler the game has ever witnessed.

The legendary spinner came out of retirement to play in the recently concluded Big Bash T20 League, where he was seen playing for his home side, the Melbourne Stars.
David Crow, Hall of Fame chairman, praised the ex-Australian vice-captain for re-inventing leg spin bowling.
"He revived leg-spin, combining accuracy with variety and enormous turn, even on unhelpful pitches. It was the timing of his performances in addition to his sheer weight of wickets that further underlined his legendary status," David added.
