Shane Warne offers his services to help struggling off-spinner Hauritz
The leg-spin prodigy of International cricket, Shane Warne, has offered his services to boost off-spinner Nathan Hauritz, who had struggled during his recent tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, ahead of the crucial Ashes series with England.
Warne is the same person, who had drawn Hauritz into this week’s tactics controversy, after criticising Ponting’s field placement on the final day of the Brisbane Test.
Hauritz finished with six for 65 in the two Tests played in India and on the final day of the Bangalore Test on Wednesday, Shane Warne had hammered Ricky Ponting’s field placement for the off-spinner.
The skipper, however, explained at the end of the game that the field was placed on bowler, Hauritz’s request and three other players have also spoken about the differences between the captain and bowler on field tactics.
Warne said that he would help Hauritz overcome the problems he faced during tour to India given the Australian team management allowed him to do so.
"That's up to Ricky Ponting and Tim Nielsen but if they are happy for me to work with Haury before the Ashes, then I'm more than happy to", Warne said. "I will make myself available and fit it into my schedule”.
Warne said that Indian wickets prove to be hard to bowl for spinners at times and World class spinners like Daniel Vettori, the spin wizard of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Muttiah-Muralitharan-c78157 and he himself have been hit in the Subcontinent at times.
He said that the recent blow on Hauritz in India “is no disgrace at all”. Warne further said that all that would matter in the long run is how the off-spinner bounces back in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 this summer against England.
Responding to a question regarding Steven Smith’s inclusion into the Ashes squad, the Test spinner said, “in my opinion Steve Smith is still a long way short of being Australia's No.1 Test spinner".
Australian team stands at No. 5 on the Reliance Mobile ICC Test Championship table and the former leg-spinner said that it is the high time for the Kangaroos to learn how to win again.
"The best way to learn to win is have a mindset where you have to attack. You have to be prepared to lose a Test to win a Test. You always have to think, 'how am I going to get this batsman out' - not just dry things up".
