Bopara, a talented wristy player, made his debut for the Poms in 2007 against Australia and impressed everyone with his skill with the bat and usefulness with the ball, but his career, was marred by inconsistencies and injuries, leaving him always fighting
for his place.

during the domestic season.
However, short-ball proved to be Bairstow’s achilles heel as he was put to the test by the Windies pace batteries who exploited his weakness, and the batsman only managed 38 runs in 3 Tests.
