Shane Warne, the legendary Australian leg-spinner, has refused to rule out a return to international cricket and claims that he is bowling as well as he was in 2007, when he announced his retirement from the highest stage of the game.
“I’ve been bowling as good as I have since I retired from international cricket, which was five or six years ago,” Warne expressed.
The cricketer from Victoria is arguably the best spinner in the history of the game, having claimed more than a thousand wickets at the world-stage. Since his retirement from the global level, the 43-year-old cricketer has been taking part in domestic T20 sport all across the globe.
He led http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals to the title triumph in the opening season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and is presently captaining the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League.
After the retirement of the legendary player, the Kangaroos have struggled in the spin-bowling department, with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Michael-Lyon-c78822 failing to make a huge impression in the five-day format.
There are rumours that Warne may bid to return to Test cricket in the Ashes 2013, which is going to be played in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
When asked, the Victorian said that it is a possibility as he is in top form at the moment. However, Warne understands that he will have to convince the selectors first by performing well in Sheffield Shield cricket.
The leg-spinner however, made it clear that he is presently focused on the Melbourne Stars’ performance in the Big Bash League, who lost their opening match against the Melbourne Renegades.
“There’s obviously a process – grade cricket, state cricket, and then you’ve got to get selected.. At the moment I’m being asked, could I do it’?” said the great leg-spinner. “And I’m saying, ‘Yeah, I have absolutely no doubt that I could because of the way I’m bowling’. But whether it’s going to happen or not is a completely hypothetical situation. At the moment I’m just worried about the Stars and getting us on the winning ledger.”
