Shane Warne says he is the fittest ever – Cricket News Update
Australia’s legendary leg-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shane-Keith-Warne-c89672 has claimed that he is fitter than he has ever been throughout his career and still possesses the magic in his bowling like his old days when he played international cricket.
Warne last played competitive cricket in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals (RR). He led the franchise to a title victory in the inaugural season of the cash rich tournament and earned a lot of respect for his skills both as a player
and captain.
However, the last season of the lucrative league did not turn out to be an ideal one for the veteran spinner, as he had a dispute with the local authorities over change of pitch at the team’s home ground.
During the 2011 season, Warne announced retirement from all forms of cricket and his fans thought that he will not return to competitive cricket after leaving the IPL.
However, the 42-year-old bowler came out of retirement and decided to play his local Twenty20 tournament Big Bash, saying that he wanted to give something back to Australian cricket after earning a lot from it.
The legendary player claimed, “I'm the fittest I've been in my life and I'm still bowling pretty well the last time I bowled.”
He further added, “As far as the Big Bash, there's been a lot of offers for it. I haven't had a chance to catch up, so I haven't really sat down and done the pros and cons and see if I want to do it or, is it a great way to give something back to Australian
cricket, when they are starting something new, as a great way to help younger players, I don't know?”
Apart from Warne, former Australian opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Lawrence-Hayden-c75233 will also come out of retirement and feature in the Big Bash league. He also last played competitive cricket in the IPL for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
The inclusion of such great players in the local Australian league will be a great joy for the fans all over the world. It will be interesting to see whether they can live up to the expectations of their respective sides or not.
