Australia’s legendary spinner Shane Warne is all set to take part in the Big Bash Twenty20 tournament, but is still uncertain whether which team will he represent in the event.
Arguably the greatest spinner of all times had quite all forms of cricket after the Indian Premiere League (IPL) season 4. He captained the franchise http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals (RR) and led them to the tile in the inaugural season of the lucrative league back in 2008.
However, he decided to come out of retirement in order to feature in his domestic tournament. He has still not decided whether to represent the Melbourne Renegades or the Melbourne Stars.
The 42-year-old spinner stated, “Twenty20, I played it for four years in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. I love the Twenty20, I think it’s great that the Big Bash is coming here to Melbourne...I’m definitely going to play a few games, which will be good fun and help out some young
players.”
Warne further added, “I’m not leaning one way or the other (Renegades or Stars) but I’m definitely going to play a few games and have some fun.”
Another former Australian player and Warne’s team-mate http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Lawrence-Hayden-c75233 also decided to come out of retirement to take part in the Big Bash Twenty20. He also played the cash rich IPL, representing the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Hayden will be playing for the Brisbane Heat in the Australian Twenty20 league and will be aiming to provide some entertainment to his fans worldwide.
Both former greats had played for their country in the team’s golden era when they won three consecutive World Cup Finals in 1999, 2003 and 2007. However, their departure from international cricket has hurt the team badly.
Although the Kangaroos have quite a few promising openers in their side, they still have not found the perfect batsman who can score runs with consistency like Hayden.
The biggest challenge for the Aussie team seems to be finding a quality spinner like Warne. His retirement has left a big vacuum in the team and no one has been able to fill in his boots.
Due to this, the team has currently slipped to number five in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Test team rankings.
