Shane Warne signals green light to Nathan Hauritz' inclusion in the squad
Australian spin legend Shane Warne gave his approval of including Nathan Hauritz into the first Ashes Test squad scheduled to begin from the 25th of November at The Gabba, Brisbane.
Warne declared him as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854’s Xavier Doherty,
who had an impressive debut earlier this month in the Sri Lankan tour of Australia.
Doherty has been garbing some surprise from critics and supporters alike to his inclusion in the 17 man squad. Hauritz would be facing competition from his new rival as both the spinners will be battling it out on the field on Wednesday during the Sheffield
Shield match between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 and Tasmania.
However, Warne said that Hauritz has a very “good record in Australia” and the selectors would want to look into an excellent record for such an important series. But he did admit that Hauritz still needs to go an extra mile to prove himself because if he
doesn’t do well then there are options like Doherty and Steve Smith.
Warne believed that if Hauritz clears up his mind and gets into the game with extreme focus by listening to the captain and bowling accurately, he might be able to be the key player for the Aussies.
He did signal that if Hauritz doesn’t do well in the upcoming match, then Doherty would be taking his place as he would be “handling the pressure well” and seems ready for the uphill task.
Warne also warned the Aussies about the tough task ahead of them in the shape of Graeme Swann. The England’s off-spinner is the number one spinner in the world and has continuously improved in every innings he plays.
Cricket Australia is already facing criticism for making this year’s Ashes more commercial with their announcement of the 17 man squad which came in a glitzy manner as they had "obligations towards their sponsoring companies.” The Australian team is itself
in hot waters as key players are struggling with their form and are faced by injuries woes.
