All-rounders in a team give it perfect balance. Especially in the limited overs format of cricket, the all-rounder plays a significant role in the match’s results. Following the tradition, top teams from around the world will be relying on their all-rounders during the ICC World Cup 2011. Every team has at least one all-rounder and the player is expected to be influential during every match.
Shane Watson – Australia:
A revived Shane Watson has emerged as one of the top all-rounders in the last year or so. In recent times, he has been a most prolific scorer for Australia in all forms of the game. In the batting department, Watson is known for his classy drives, strong cuts and pulls. He has developed himself into a brutal right-handed opening batsman. His ability to pace his innings and to adjust according to the situation is his main attribute. He is fully capable of facing spinners as he can use his feet well and can step down the pitch to heave them out of the park.
His bowling is an additional advantage and his knack for taking wickets at crucial times makes him even more dangerous. He is known for his late swing bowling and can be helpful with some reverse swing. Watson is capable of bowling slow balls that can be helpful in the subcontinent. The Australian team will be relying on his all-round performance to take the team further in the mega event.
The injury-prone Aussie had a stress fracture in the World Cup of 2003. In 2007, he was suffering from calf injuries, but after recovering from that, he was an influential force in the previous World Cup. Ian Chappell praised Shane Watson, saying, “Shane Watson is genuine match-winner as he's making big scores regularly in ODI format. A much improved bowler with the knack of taking wickets.”

Stuart Broad – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749:
The lanky Brit missed the One Day International (ODI) series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. His main role is of an aggressive seamer, but he is a handy batsman down the order as well.
In the bowling department, he is quite capable of changing the flow of the match with his bowling spells. He likes to bowl with the new ball and hits the deck hard. With his height, he can generate some bounce which can be very helpful on slow tracks. In his 73 ODIs, he has bagged 124 wickets. His economy rate is relatively high, but his aggressive bowling justifies his 5.15 economy rate. He is immaculate with his line and length and can swing the ball both ways. He is at his best when he pitches the ball up and it swings away from the right-hander. Broad can surprise the batsman with his short pitch deliveries and can target batsmen straight in the ribcage.
The slow tracks of Asia will suit his left-handed batting style. Broad started his early club career as an opener. He is capable of hitting down the order and is labelled as a sensible cricketer. His attribute of analysing the situation makes him a special figure in the English camp. Broad can be a used as a hitter, however, he is quite efficient while hanging around with a specialist batsman.
Former English fast bowler     Angus Fraser gave his expert view about Stuart Broad and said that he was a real delight for the captain. He added, “He’s a bloody good one-day bowler – particularly adept at picking up wickets in the middle of the innings, when his aggression comes to the fore. Should be fit and firing after a long lay-off.”
