Shane Watson has declared himself fit & injury free for the Indian tour in October. Knowing his injury plagued past, do you think he will stand up to the gruelling schedule, or are we just hearing more Watson hype?Let's face it,haven't we heard it all before?

  1. unfortunately Watson chose a wrong opposition for his cause, perhaps Indian wickets will not suit him and he will be the most expensive aussie bowler and a weak batsman against indian bowlers and perhaps this series will be the last series for Shane Watson of his career !

    hope it helps!

    god bless!

    regrads!

  2. Mate this is just all Watson's hype..

If it is not his calf it is his ankle or his wrist or his knee..

He is a hazard and a risk..

Personally i don't think he will last more than 2 matches of full play..

He is too much of a risk, why can't they name others in his place?..'God' knows we have plenty of bowler/batsmen who could take his place..

I am looking forward to seeing out line up for the Indian tour,i just hope they do have someone in mind to take Watson's position when he does injure himself..

Face it when ever we have a tour he always ends up injured..

  3. We have seen it all before Jakey :)

I remember before the Ashes over in your place, that Watson was supposed to be Australian's answer to Flintoff and in the 06/07 Ashes he was going to prove how good he was. Well would you believe it? he got injured before the 1st test and he didnt play in the whole series.

I'm a big fan of Watson (and i know your not) but he has the potential to still be a key player in international cricket. His all-round ability is actually stronger than Symonds (he's a far more capable bowler) he just needs a run in the side to prove his mettle.

Australia have to show faith in Watson and bat him at 6, and use him as a proper all-rounder (not a batting all-rounder) his bowling is impressive in the right situation (the amount of bounce he gets sometimes is tough to play) so Watson has the ability to finally cement his place in the side.

  4. I acutally think watson is a better player than symond all around..

He plays depending on how the team needs him and HE WILL PICK Up wickets in india, since we all seen that in IPL..

  5. Shane Watson has had a long time outside the Australian team. So he has had a lot of time to fix himself up and prepare himself. His great performances in the IPL just helped his cause. I think Watson is a good replacement for Symonds. He can withstand the gruelling schedule. He has it in him to be a crucial player and i really think he will be a crucial player for Australia.

  6. Yes we've heard it all before about Watson. I think he is destined to be a "might-have-been". Right now he is potentially a "never-will-be". Sure he has talent, but he is very rarely fit. Australia can't rely on someone with his record. Shame for Watson, but Cricket Australia need to be realistic. You can't build a team for the future when one of your main players only plays half the matches (if that).

He might manage the Indian tour, but I am sure he will break down before the end of the Australian season.

But I may be being too cynical. Lets hope for Australia's, and Watson's sake, that I am. It would be great if he could stay injury free, as he is a class player.

  7. in my opinion , watson is a non technical batsman like symonds

and he will struggle against fast bowlers.

instead of selecting watson, Australians should have selected one more bowler to deal with great fab 4 of India.

    hope it helped
