Shane Watson adamantly behind his skipper
Australia’s opening batsman Shane Watson has said that the Australian side is shattered by the fact that they have failed in grabbing the Ashes back from the English side.
He said that the team is aware that their lacklustre performance in the fourth Test has disappointed many fans, who were hoping that they would be giving them an Ashes' present this New Year eve.
Talking to the press, Watson said that although Australia have been outplayed by England in this year’s Ashes but still it did not mean that the players in the Australian team were having second thoughts about Ponting’s leadership.
According to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326, every player is backing Ponting and they know that with the immense experience that Ponting has, he is the best man to lead the team out of these desperate times.
He said, “No one will ever question his ability to be able to lead the group because of the things he's been able to do throughout his career and how good he's been to everyone in the Australian cricket team. Everyone will always be right behind Ricky.”
Watson was hopeful that the side would bounce back after identifying the areas where the team underperformed.
Ponting will surely face the wrath of the selectors and the press for this defeat in the Ashes. He has underperformed as a captain and as a player. The struggling skipper could only score 20 runs before playing on to a superb delivery by Tim Bresnan.
Some are even speculating that Ponting may be relieved of captaincy duties for the fifth and final match of the Ashes. This Ashes Test has been nothing but a rollercoaster for the Aussie skipper which may well be his last Test leading http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
England have retained the urn after more than two decades Downunder while Ricky Ponting has become only the second Australian Captain to lose the Ashes thrice during his career.
