Shane Watson happy to feature at number 3 in Aussie Test line-up – Cricket News Update
After he was forced to step out of the opening slot in the batting order owing to injury concerns in 2011, Aussie all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558 will be making a comeback to the Test squad at number 3 – however, he insists that he is happy with his new position.
Watson last played as a Test opener in November 2011, against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phillip-Hughes-c2185. Hamstring complaints forced him to bow out of the team, and the upcoming series
against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 marks his return to the Test squad, but at the downgraded position of number 3. However, the 30-year-old claims that he is content, seeing as he is returning after missing an entire summer, and confident that he will get ample chances
to make an impact at his new batting position.
“I'm happy to play anywhere to be honest after sitting out all the summer and seeing how successful the Test team was, there's no doubt that I'd love to fit in wherever I possibly can,” said Watson. “I have really enjoyed opening the batting ... but in the
end batting at No. 3 you're still certainly in the engine room with a newer ball potentially.”

“… I'm happy to try and compliment the team wherever I possibly can, because it has been an extremely exciting and successful Test summer and I'd love to be a part of that,” he said.
Watson will be leading the ODI team as stand-in captain for the limited-overs leg of the tour which begins on March 16, as regular skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 recovers from a hamstring injury. He is expected to return in time for the Test series on April 7, after
which the all-rounder will go back to his role as vice-captain.
