http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s vice-captain Shane Watson has said that he is ready to bat at any number in the batting order if it is for the benefit of the team.
The major problem for the Aussies in Test cricket off-late has been the fact that their middle order has got into a habit of collapsing after a good start given by the top order batsmen.
Many cricket analysts in Australia feels that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 is their best batsman at the moment and he should bat lower down so that the middle order is strengthened.
Watson said that he loves to open the innings and claimed that the Australian management does not wish to change his batting order at the moment. However, the all-rounder said that he will bat lower down if the management feels that it is in the best interest
of the Australian team.
He said, ''I do love opening the batting and at the moment my conversations with Michael and with the team hierarchy have been that things won't change. But if the best balance for the team is batting a little bit lower, in the end we have to find out what
the best combination for our batting order is going to be.''
29 years old Watson has struggled throughout his career because of fitness problems but he has been performing consistently for the Kangaroos since last couple of years as he is averaging more than 40 runs per innings in both Test cricket and One Day Internationals.
Watson said that he has played a lot of cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and that is why he is strong against spinners and it should not be difficult for him to bat in the middle order. He added that he has improved as a batsman because of experience.
''I feel like I am solid against spin but it's always a thing I can improve on. I have been lucky to play a lot of cricket in India over the last couple of years, but it is a continual development for me to find ways of moving my feet a bit more and not
just sitting in the crease, finding that balance,'' Watson added.
