The stand-in captain of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, Shane Watson, on Thursday expressed his excitement over the new role and hopes that the Aussies win matches under his captaincy.
Speaking to media reporters ahead of the opening One Day International of the five-match away series against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, the prolific all-rounder said that leading these talented Australian players has been a pleasant experience
"For me, it's just a really enjoyable time to be able to try to bring across the way that I love playing cricket," said Watson speaking to media reporters ahead of the ODI series opener on Friday.
"…I'm just really excited about being able to lead a team of very high quality and talented individuals, but also know exactly what is required to be able to win," he added further.
Watson made a comeback to international cricket a few weeks ago, after a three-month long injury layoff, and upon his return he was appointed as the stand in captain of Australia, in the absence of regular skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978. The latter, however, is
expected to return to action in the Test leg of the Caribbean itinerary.
Meanwhile, Australian coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/XJ-Doherty-c2804 and wicketkeeper batsman Matthew Wade.
"We've evolved the team over the last month, and we're just looking for these guys to continue to put their hands up during the series to make sure we keep going in the right direction," said the South African speaking to media reporters on Thursday.
The first ODI of the five-match series will be played at the Arnos Vale Cricket Ground at St. Vincent, on March 16, 2012. The next two ODIs will be hosted at the same venue before the two teams move to St. Lucia to play the last two matches of the series
at Beausejour Cricket Ground in St. Lucia.
