http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558 lauds Kieron Pollard - Cricket News Update
Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, lavished praise on the Caribbean all-rounder, Kieron Pollard, after the Aussies succumbed to a 42-run
defeat in the fourth One Day International of the five match series at St Lucia, on Friday, March 23, 2012.
With the 42-run win, the hosts have clinched a 2-1 lead in the series and Watson believes Kieron Pollard is the difference between the two camps.
Australia captain Shane Watson believes hard hitting number 6 batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KA-Pollard-c1754 was the difference as his team crumbled to a 42-run defeat to West Indies on Friday.
"There's no doubt it's not good enough for us, we just didn't execute enough, didn't go to the plan to be able to make sure that we're able to try and restrict him (Pollard) as much as we could," said Watson while speaking to the media
reporters after the match.
Batting first in the fourth ODI, the Caribbean side was struggling at 146 for 5 before the hard-hitter came to the crease and struck a whirlwind century of just 69 balls to take the hosts to an intimidating total of 294 for 7 in their
allotted quota of 50 overs. On his way, the all-rounder was dropped thrice by the Australian fielders and Watson lamented those misfields.
"It's a small ground so there's no doubt that with his power, that is always keeping him in the game but dropping him three times probably certainly didn't help as well as execution in the last 10 overs especially," admitted the visiting
skipper.
In reply the tourists could manage only 252 before being bundled out in the 47th over. Half centuries from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brett-Lee-c48419, lower down the order, were not enough to save the side from 42-run defeat as the rest of
the batting line-up fell for scores inside 28.
The hosts are leading the series 2-1 with the fifth and final One Day International of the series to be played at the Beausejour Stadium, Gros Islet, St. Lucia today, March 25, 2012.
