Shane Watson not taking Ireland lightly – Cricket News Update
Australia’s vice-captain Shane Watson on Tuesday admitted that the semi-professional Ireland cricket team is a side that can upset any team on its day.
Australia, the ODI and Test superpowers of past, are yet to prove themselves in the shortest format of the game. Currently they are ranked No. 9 on ICC’s T20 rankings, ahead of only Ireland and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045.
The mighty Aussies will take on Ireland in their World T20 opener, at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, and their T20 form has plunged to the extent that many are expecting an upset on Wednesday.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, after an injury layoff, admitted today that Ireland are a dangerous team and they would have to be at their best to dominate tomorrow’s game.
"Not too many guys have been talking about it but deep inside everyone knows they are a very dangerous team," the hard-hitting top-order batsman, who also bowls right-arm medium pace, told media reporters on the eve of the match. "Certainly we have to be
at our best to make sure we dominate the game," the all-rounder insisted.
The Australia T20 skipper, however, is not reading too much into his side’s unimpressive stats in the shortest format of the game and is confident his side will do well in the mega event.
During a media encounter on Tuesday, the Tasmanian top-order batsman, who was appointed Australian T20 skipper in January this year, said that if his side could ensure in the tournament that they are mentally strong, they would not have any problems in the
global tournament.
"Australia are our biggest threat," said Bailey. "If we rock up ready to play and play as well as we can, then I don't think there's a threat," the right-hander added further.
