http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 series a great challenge – Cricket News Update
Australian all-rounder, Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 looks forward to face the South African in the Test series, terming it as a great challenge.
It will be the first time the 30-year-old will ply his trade against the Proteas on their home-soil, and having achieved success against all other cricketing nations, he is hoping that he continues his good form against a strong Proteas line up.
The all-rounder praised his opponents bowling contingent, which possess a few  excellent fast bowlers in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/M-Morkel-c73528, and the opener hopes that he is able to ensure that he is amongst the runs for his team.
"It's going to be a great challenge," Watson said. "Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel are some of the best bowlers in the world at the moment, in all forms of the game. It's something that I've really been looking forward to, being able to play Test cricket over
here in South Africa. It's something that I haven't done. It's going to be a huge challenge of my game and what I'm made of.
His recent performances have been below-par compared with his usual high standards, which included a mediocre outing against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, where he failed to amass big scores. Also with the extra pressure of bowling, his body has taken considerable toll, which
has seen him re-consider his stance of opening the innings.
Due to this added pressure, he missed the teams loss in the second T20 game against the Proteas and consequently was deemed unfit for the first one-dayer. He returned to the second ODI but aggravated his hip injury and had to leave the field in the middle
of his over – a match which his side lost.
However, after being declared fit for the third and deciding match of the One Day series, Watto proved his mettle with a fine Player of the Match performance, which helped the team clinch the ODI series 2-1.
His concern of the added workload were echoed by his skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-James-Clark-c75974, who was of the view that it is best for the team and Watson to open the innings, which helps maintain the much needed balance in the Test side.
The first Test match will start from November 9, 2011.
