Shane Winters, Shannon Murphey clinch 8-ball and 9-ball titles: 2012 Great Southern Billiard Tour
After putting up excellent potting skills at the Michael’s Billiards in Fairfield, Shane Winters and Shannon Murphey were able to claim their respective titles of 8-ball and 9-ball categories in the February instalment of 2012 Great Southern Billiard Tour.
The event was held at the Michael’s Billiards in Fairfield, OH where 107 pool players tested their luck.
However, Winters and Murphey were the luckiest of them as they pocketed $600 and $1000 respectively after topping their classes. The competition produced some of the best pool contests ever in the club. Winters and Murphey grabbed a strong position from
the very beginning of the match and performing brilliantly according to their standards both potters claimed the titles and the prize money in the end.
On the other hand, a bank pool mini competition was also organised in the same billiard club where 32 players took part to win $300 prize money. However, the tournament was won by Timmy Heath who remained undefeated throughout the tournament. He earned the
$300 prize money beating T. J. Bach in the finals.
Winters began his run terrifically in the amateur 8-ball division featuring 52 cuemen. The event was played on bar boxes. He reached the final clash of the tournament beating Jeremy Seaman in the winners’ side by the score line of 7-2 and D. J. Holloway
by the scores of 7-3. Jeremy Seaman, on the west hand of the fixtures, bounced back into the game and claimed sec0nd place in the overall standings beating Ryan Stone by 7-4.
Meanwhile, in the 9-ball division, Murphey came up strong from 55 potters to hit the top spot winning over Billy Thorpe by an impressive score line of 11-1 and grab $1,000 prize.
