Shannon Briggs coming back to avenge his defeat against Vitali Klitschko – Boxing news
Former World Boxing Organisation’s heavyweight championship titleholder, Shannon Briggs, has revealed he is coming back to avenge his defeat against the current World Boxing Council’s world heavyweight champion, Vitali Klitschko.
The 39-year-old American pugilist, Briggs, lost to Dr. Ironfist, Klitschko, after a resounding 12-round decision back in October 2010 in a WBC world championship title match at the O2 Arena in Hamburg, Germany.
Briggs took some severe beating throughout the fight and was found to have suffered a left orbital fracture, a broken nose and a torn left biceps. However since he was not knocked out or knocked down he thinks he can overpower Klitschko, who has won 42 of
his 44 fights including 39 by the way of a knockout.
Briggs told the media when he fought Klitschko he was unable to use his left arm but still Klitschko failed to end the fight by the way of a knockout. Briggs claimed if he could have used his left arm, he might have won against the Ukrainian.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I am making a comeback, not just to finish on a win, but to win the heavyweight championship of the world. Looking back on Germany, Vitali Klitschko fought me for 12 rounds with one arm and he couldn’t knock me
out.”
“Don’t forget, this is one of the men with one of the greatest knockout ratios in heavyweight history. I feel it would be awful to live the rest of my life knowing that he couldn’t knock me down when I had one arm, and that I could have beaten him with two,”
he added.
In the end Briggs, who has won 51 of his 59 professional fights (1 draw, 1 no contest), with 45 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, stated he does not want to regret for what happened with him against Klitschko, as the 6 ft 4” warrior thinks he
can win against Klitschko.
Briggs remarked, “Life is too short for regrets, I have to make the most of my time.”
