Shannon Briggs to resume boxing career in December or January – Boxing news
Former World Boxing Organisation’s heavyweight champion, Shannon Briggs, who has won 51 of his 59 professional fights (1 draw, 1 no contest), with 45 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is planning to launch his boxing career once again with his
new promoter, Gary Jonas, in December 2011 or January 2012.
The 39-year-old American pugilist, Briggs, has not stepped in the ring after he was brutalised by the Dr. Ironfist, Vitali Klitschko, in their World Boxing Council’s title match on October 16, 2010 at the O2 Arena in Hamburg, Germany.
Briggs was beaten terribly in all 12 rounds by the 6 ft 6” Ukrainian giant, Klitschko, who is widely known for his powerful punching and hard chin. Hence Briggs was found to have suffered a left orbital fracture, a broken nose and a torn in left biceps and
because of all these injuries Briggs was hospitalised for several days.
However, when the boxer has recovered fully he wants to avenge his defeat against the 40-year-old, Klitschko, who currently holds the World Boxing Council’s world heavyweight championship belt.
Briggs told the media he is in a great shape now and therefore he is going to make a comeback in December or January.
Briggs, who is widely known as the Cannon, reckons there are going to be a lot of benefits for him this time, as he is also planning to advertise Zivair, Briggs product for the asthmatic patients.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “We’re getting in shape, and we’re looking at launching again in December or January. I’m making my comeback and I’m going to be coming back with a boom. There’s going to be a lot of advantages to it. I’m going to
be marketing the product Zivair, it’s my asthma product that got me through that fight. I was able to breathe.”
In the end, Briggs paid his regards to all of his fans and claimed he will be in an even better shape this time.
Briggs remarked, “I want to thank all the fans who have supported me throughout the last year and I’m looking forward to showing you all that I’m back and I’m even better than before.”
