Shannon Brown would like to play for Phoenix Suns next season - NBA Update
With the summer just around the corner, the Phoenix Suns are about to deal with a number of free agents, guard Shannon Brown being one of them. His one year $3.5 million contract that he signed with the franchise back in December
2011 will be maturing soon, but even after what can be called an inconsistent run, Brown has showed his interest for extending his stay with the Suns.
"I would like to come back," Brown said recently. "I understand it's a business at the same time. Whatever happens happens, but I've expressed my interest."
The 6 ft 4 in ex Los Angeles Lakers player averaged 11.0 points and 2.7 boards in 59 games, including 19 starts, this season. Although he cannot be counted as a first unit player; but he has proved himself to be a solid support
coming off the bench.
Brown proved to be a good perimeter shooter last season. He averaged 43 percent from the three point range and his best performance came against the Denver Nuggets on April 21 when dropped 28 points, including six triples.
Although the decision to re-sign rests with the franchise, but the 26-year old did manage to prove his mettle, barring the turnovers. He has evolved his game to the point where he can be awarded a bigger contract for the next season.

“I came out and showed people that I can play the game of basketball," Brown said. "I know one of the things about me they were saying this summer, 'Aw, he can't play out of the (Lakers') triangle. The triangle made him. He can't
play out of the triangle.' I think I proved that wrong. I'm just trying to continue to get better as a basketball player and I think I'm going to do that each summer."
The problem for Brown is that Jamal Crawford is also opting out his contract with Portland Trail Blazers and the Suns are understood to be strong suitors for the guard. If Steve Nash stays in the Desert City this season then the
Suns will have to make a choice between Brown and Crawford.
