Shannon Gabriel “fit and ready” for national recall – Cricket News Update
Affirming that he is in full fitness and has been working on improving his game,  medium-pacer Shannon Gabriel has stated that he is hopeful for a recall to the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 squad.
“I am fit and ready,” said Gabriel. “I have improved. I have been doing some work in the nets with the technical aspects of my game so I am looking to improve further.” 
Gabriel made his domestic debut in January 2010 for Trinidad & Tobago, and has gone on to play a total of 25 first-class matches (with 67 scalps to his credit), in addition to 7 list A matches (8 wickets) and 4 Twenty20s (4 wickets).
Owing to his impressive form in first-class cricket, Gabriel was picked for T&T’s 2011 Champions League T20 campaign, and also claimed his maiden five-wicket haul for T&T in April this year, during the semi-final of the regional four-day competition, against
Barbados.
The stellar performances saw him named in the West Indies’ squad for their tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Rampaul-c2233 was forced to pull out owing to a neck injury, and the 24-year-old went on to
claim 3 for 60 during the first innings of the first Test, sending http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806.
However, scans revealed a stress reaction in the lower spine, which forced him to pull out of the remainder of the tour. He was subsequently unable to participate in the home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, owing to fitness concerns. However, the young right-armer
has been working on his fitness with T&T, and took part in their CLT20 2012 campaign – Gabriel claimed one wicket, in the game against Uva Next (which was eventually called off due to rain), but T&T failed to make it to the main CLT20 event, crashing out of
the qualifiers.
“It was a good feeling playing my first game in the Champions League, although we were knocked out in the qualifying stage of the tournament,” Gabriel said. “It was a bit disappointing that we had to come back home so early but that is how cricket goes sometimes.
Hopefully we can learn from this and next time put up a better performance.”
Having regained his fitness, and put in match practice wihttp://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 next month – however, he did not manage to make the final cut.
