Shanshan Feng dominates the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters as the third round comes to an end
The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters has been led by the professional golfer from mainland China, Shanshan Feng since the first round.
Feng is on the verge of proving a point to her European counterparts that the Asian golfers are physically and mentally stronger than them.
The Chinese golfer has been a delight to watch throughout the tournament. She demonstrated a consistent game of golf and with that some spectacular shots to justify her place at the top slot of the leaderboard.
Feng shot a five-under 67 on the third day which extended her lead to five strokes over second placed rival.
The winner of this year’s LPGA Championship is the 6th ranked player in the world and the highest seeded player in the Dubai-based tournament.
The season ending event has come down to its final round and promises to deliver its share of excitement and thrill.
The top players on the leaderboard will utilize their reserves to make life miserable for the Chinese on the Majlis course.
The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters tournament started back in 2006 and is a part of the Ladies European Tour
As her third round came to a close, Feng said, "I was a little nervous at the beginning, but I made some birdies and had quite a comeback on the last three holes".
Feng said, "I've done pretty well for three days so I'm going to stick to the same game plan. I'm still confident".
The Dutch golfer Dewi Claire Schreefel made history of the tournament by carding a nine-under-par 63, which is the lowest score for a lady golfer on the Majlis course.
While commenting on her third round’s performance, Schreefel said, "That was the best round of my career".
Schreefel further stated, "They come along every once in a while and I feel another good round under par is definitely possible".
The American Lexi Thompson, who is the defending champion of the tournament, was not exhibiting the same level of play that eventually won her the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters title last year.
However, Feng has consolidated a comfortable lead and is playing a very consistent game even under pressure. Her rivals will have to put up a remarkable performance in the final round to threaten the Chinese golfer.
