Shanshan Feng manages to retain her lead at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters
The professional Chinese golfer, Shanshan Feng, retained her lead as the second round of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters Championship came to an end.
Feng had a wonderful first day on the Majlis course, as she displayed a splendid round of golf and stamped her place on top of the leaderboard. Moreover, she scored a 66 in the first round and was at 6-under.
The newly appointed ambassador of the watch company, Omega, Feng said while coming into the tournament that she was under immense pressure.
She explained the reason for her being under pressure, stating that she will have to live up to the honour given to her by Omega and will display a high standard of golf in the tournament to justify the decision made by her sponsors.
Secondly, she commented that she has to play well for the sake of her dear friend, Yu, who is currently struggling with form.
The second day for the 6th ranked Chinese star was a success as she made eight birdies.
Feng’s second round on the Majlis course started with a birdie on the first hole. The second hole was par, whereas on the third hole, the Chinese made another birdie.
The only bad patch for Feng came on the fourth hole when she carded a bogey. The rest of her day was beyond the grasp of any other player on the course.
Feng said in a statement before the start of the tournament that the Asian players are tougher than their European counterparts. She proved it by playing a calm and composed game during the second round.
The 6th ranked golfer in the world, who is placed as the highest seed of the tournament, carded a 65 on her second day on the Majlis course.
If she keeps her form consistent throughout the four-day event, she can easily take the trophy home. Moreover, she will also overtake the rest of the European players competing in the same competition.
Currently, she is at the top position and is one of the favourites to win the prestigious title.
