Shanshan Feng moves ahead at consistent pace
Chinese Shanshan Feng is in high spirits these days, as she kicked off the 2012 season in an impressive style, winning a major title at the LPGA Championship 2012.
Feng is regarded as one of the rising stars in women’s golf, as she has made a name for herself by performing well. The Chinese star appears to moving ahead at a consistent pace and is expected to improve her position in the world rankings.
Feng currently ranks fifth in the Women’s World Golf Rankings. Although she has seen a slump in her ranking lately, the golfing sensation has proved in the last few tournaments that she can trouble any player on the course.
Other key LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) contenders who have grabbed media attention recently by improving their positions in the Women’s World Golf Rankings include American Stacy Lewis and Na Yeon Choi.
Choi, who belongs to South Korea, has shown that Asian players still hold the whip hand in women’s golf, and they are not going to give up without putting up a tough fight.
However, Stacy Lewis has emerged to dispel doubts about performance of American players, as she has improved her ranking lately. She currently ranks third in the Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Despite what is going on in the world rankings, Feng focused on her game and managed to fix flaws in her strokes.
The major reason behind an increase in her position is a victory at the LPGA Championship 2012. The triumph gave her a new vigour, which proved helpful in moving forward.
The 22-year-old golfer was extremely thrilled after hoisting her first major trophy, and she had vowed to maintain the momentum in the coming tournaments.
The US Women’s Open 2012, a major tournament on the LPGA, proved lucky for the young prodigy, as she displayed a solid performance.
She fired an overall 290 to finish tied for the fourth position. Feng kicked off her first round at Kohler with plenty of confidence but made errors on some holes. Her first-round score was 74.
Analysts said that Feng has struck fear into her nearest rivals, as she seems to be unstoppable after recording her first major victory.
