Shape of airbags?

Why are the airbags in driver's side is circular whereas those on the passenger's side and sides are rectangular?

The primary thing the airbag is covering on the driver's side is the steering wheel, which is round.  On the passenger side, it is covering the dashboard, which is more rectangular.

The drivers airbag is designed to punch the driver in the face. Passenger airbag is large enough to punch 2 passengers in the face.

Because passenger's or side impact airbags, use a stored gas inflater rather than the chemically operated one.

They inflate to a givin area and pack accordingly.
