Question:

Shapeshifting animals in my dreams?

It is a very vivid dream. Throughout the entire thing the feeling is calm and secure and in the dream I am watching, not really doing anything but existing. So basically all the animals are perfect black, their furs or skins are like pools of tar. the animal starts out as a baby panther, then a black bird of sorts, then an adult panther, then a dog, a puppy and a black crocodle or alligator. It was one animal that kept changing form or shape - i didn't feel threatened. I felt calm almost happy.

What does the dream mean - I've had it more thana once.

  1. Vivid and believable, i.e. so realistic that we feel at peace and full of acceptance at the time, dreams of this sort are rare.

The source of the imagery is not easy to pin down - it may relate to something you are familiar and comfortable with, or even have a fascination with.  That could be animals to a degree, but not necessarily.

The shape-shifting in such dreams can almost amount to a surreal manipulation of the mind's eye.  Some report things such as shiny airplanes in formation, different kinds, which morph into one in stages, the one finally flying away and disappearing as a ribbon fluttering away to the horizon.  Others may see train yards full of trains merging and changing colors.  You name it - the theme does occur while the subjects vary widely, but vivid recollection is rare.

Sometimes these seem related to a 'parading' of things of curiosity that are registered in the subconscious mind.  The 'pools of tar' you describe fits well with the vivid imagery described by others who dream like this - the realism goes beyond what is normally real to us - the thing nearly takes on a 'manufactured' quality in the mind.  But why?

Dreams like this seem more related to the mind disposing of curious wonderments of the things we experience or see in life with some curiosity by vivid projection, no other real reason.  They never seem to carry particular 'messages' or highlight things of concern that may dwell in the subconscious mind.  That yours have recurred is a bit unusual, especially if they are identical.  That suggests a recurring exposure or repeat visits to some frame of mind that conjures up this imagery.

The feeling of well being likely relates to the nature of the subject - a curiosity that is buried deep in the mind that you are really comfortable with - and that the mind is disposing of 'files' that are not needed for the moment.  In your case they seem to still be in there in some corner, perhaps in compacted form - waiting to be released again when triggered by whatever event or thing does that for you.  That could be as simple as diet at late night, or some occasional event or exposure - even reading material or imagery by some other media.

Consider these points.  Such dreams are rare and a bit hard to pin down, but you may find that you have some drivers that fit some of what I've written.

    All the best to you.

  2. As with most dreams, it is a personal experience.  The color black does not always represent darkness or negativity. What does black mean to you?  That is the one constant in your dream.  Everything else changes but that.  Good luck with your quest.

  3. chrystal clear to me...your yet to be born children are saying Hi pop!

dreams are often your spirit or subconscience lets say for the agnostic, communicating with you.  It may be other spirit forms but usully it's just you communication with you.

write the dream down as soon as you can.  also keep a recording device near by your sleeping place.  Pen & paper will do fine.  As soon as you wake plan to record the dream. visualize doing this as you drift off to sleep.  this is a "wake-up" call to your spirit, letting you know that you are listening and feel that what is dreampt is important
