Shaquille O’Neal striving to keep the Nets in Newark
A gigantic kid from Jersey may well be added to the long list of jersey people who have been against the nets been taken away from Newark to New York, Brooklyn.
Shaquille O’Neal, in a recent conference, indicated that he would lend a hand to negotiate an arrangement to have the Nets not leave Newark, the location where Shaq had lived for the first 15 years of his life. He even presented himself and clarified that
he would be willing to run the team once he had retired.
He further spoke of the idea that the new proprietor should combine ideas with the person who had built the massive stadium and see if they could keep the Nets where they belong.
The big O’Neal was truly not thrilled by the possibility of them moving and thought that if the two of them could work hand in hand, they can perhaps succeed in making sure that the Nets did not go anywhere.
He expressed his personal interest in the idea by hinting that he would come down and join them in the capacity as a general manager. He looked determined in his words and more than willing to translate them into action once the first chance of doing that
came his way.
He has held a strong opinion in recent past that states that the Russian owner of the N.J Nets must synchronize his ideas with the builder of the historical venue while obtaining help from other people who could also influence the decision. He has faith
that this could benefit the situation at hand.
The Russian owner, Mikhail P. and the owner of the New Jersey Devils, J.Vanderbeek already have a settlement that allows the Nets to remain in N.J. They would stay at the Prudential Centre for a minimum of a couple of years or most definitely till 2012 when
the basketball stadium in Brooklyn is ready.
The Celtics arranged to have Shaq sign with them in the off season to take part in an exhibition game against N.J Nets that took place on the 6th of October 2010. It was played in Newark, where O’Neal still has quite a bit of family left. He had
a suitcase of memories that were connected with the city. Shaq felt a stronger connection to the motives and ideas he had. Visiting Newark re-established his faith in what he had believed in and the plans he had imagined to execute.
The big bad Shaq had also opined in the recent past that he had a strong belief in the proprietor and has taken a liking to the Russian. When he had spoken to the press he had openly told everyone that the nets had a strong owner and a beautiful arena, and
would like it to remain where it has been.
That wasn't the only reason for the keenness which Shaq had been showing as he has been trying to save the Russian a great deal of solid cash. He wanted to make the owner of the Nets reverse his decision of spending $300m more on a stadium that he had planned
to erect in Brooklyn.
All O’Neal had wished for was that he would stay and wait on him, and then make him general manager. Shaq had only 741 days remaining and he would be available by that crucial time.
However, Mikhail has told reporters that the whole notion of purchasing the nets had been founded on them being relocated to Brooklyn. He added that he had no qualms with the nets staying in Newark, but just till the new Barclays Centre Stadium was being
constructed.
He made clear that he had his commitment focused on New Jersey and to the fans. The Russian hoped that the fans, whether they are from New Jersey, New York or beyond, would remain with the nets' team that is new, young, strong and starving to win even after
their relocation.
As for the generous offer that Shaq made, Mikhail opined that he would always be allowed to push for the spot and encouraged him to send his personal resume to the GM that was currently running his show.
