Has anyone clocked her?

I was going through some of the SI pictures of her yesterday and there was one shot of her 3/4 on...and it epitomizes power...I mean power at the level of Navratilova. I tell you what. I would NOT want to be on the receiving end of her 1st service. I mean, she's 6'2"...and she jump serves, fully extended...the ball has got to be coming straight down from about 7 1/2' or so in the air. Thoughts? I mean, Davenport's serve (as she is around 6' 4-1/2") come from higher up, but it doesn't have anything near the raw power.

  1. I'd say about 105-110 mph. She can serve very well when she's serving well (?). Also, in this years Australian Open, Sharapova served didn't miss a serve for a whole set in one of her matches. THAT'S AMAZING!

  2. If you look in the corner of the court there's a digital display thing that shows the speed that the tennis players have served... from what i can remember her serves were around the 95 m.p.h . mark so you're right, i wouldn't wanna be in the way of them lol

But in the men's tennis, players like Roddick and Nadel can serve the ball at speeds of up to 140mph

  3. she serves really fast. I agree. She is like the Andy Roddick of the women's tour in terms of serving.
