Maria lost, and badly I might add, and cant hide the fact I am most thrilled. However, she was the bookmakers odds on favorite to win. Who do you think will be the odds on fav now? Ana? Venus? Serena? Dinara? Kuz? Radwanska? Even Tanasugarn? And why?

  1. 1. Serena

    2. Ana

    3. Venus

    4. Jelena

but than again i was sure I ll see Sharapova in final, heck even winning, so don't trust me:)

  2. Venus Williams since she knows how to play well on grass and this is the one surface where she feels that she can beat people, including the best. Venus may struggle, but she is a great grass court player.

  3. ana

  4. I'm gonna go with Ana Ivanovic or Jelena Jankovic

  5. In order, I'd have to say:

    1. Ana Ivanovic

    2. Venus Williams

    3. Jelena Jankovic

    =D

  6. I'm sticking with Jelena Jankovic. If not her then Venus Williams.

  7. It's between the Williams and the Serbs.... Isn't it like that in every grand slam now?

  8. I can only hope the Williams sisters are out soon, I can't stand watching them play.

Beyond that, I pick Ivanovic;she's got momentum from the French.

  9. still Venus- she stills owns the grass courts and just not because of last year. You own it until someone takes it from you :-)

  10. 1) Serena

    2) Venus

    3)  Ana

  11. You are correct.  Any of the above can win right now. I think it can be any of the Williams sisters, Ana, Safina, Jelena among others but Sharapova is overrated.  If Maria cannot pound the ball in the first serve she has no game.  She is not aggressive enough because all she is taught to do is to try to hit the ball like the Williams sisters and Ana which she can't do because physically she is much weaker.

  12. Gosh usually I am not much of a fan of Maria's, but watching that match and seeing her lose like that really made me felt sorry for her. LOL

Anyway I think this gives Venus an incredible opportunity to get to the finals. If Venus can get past Jankovic is the Quarters, she most likely will play have to play Safina in the semis.

As for who will win now... I have to believe the winner will come from the top half of the draw, maybe Serena or Ivanovic.

Or, as I said before, expect Azarenka or Radwanska to go far in this tournament. With Sharapova out, this leaves a golden opportunity for Azarenka to get to the Quarters and perhaps face Safina.

  13. my would be the William sisters, Ivanovic, Jankovic and Vaidisova. Although Vaidisova hasn't had good results yet i think if she is gonig to win a grand slam or go far, this is the best time to do it, if she finds her form, if not then Venus or Ivanovic.

  14. I was so thrilled too. I think Ana Ivanovic is and has been the favorite. She just came out of her first Grand Slam win and received the number one ranking for the first time. She has a lot of confidence because of these two things.
