Sharapova vs. Ivanovic ... Possible 10 Points for your opinion!?

Any thoughts on who is better at tennis, who is better looking, that kind of things? Any contrasts? Just write what you like or dislike about them.

Ivanovic now world no.1 so shes going to be brimming with confidence, and she is probably technically better and stronger, but Sharapova has matured a lot since four yeas ago and she has a real fight about her know, that is like she can't lose so I'd go for Ivanovic!

Ivanovic is plays better tennis, has the better all around game, is better looking, has a cuter smile, and a better personality.

Nothing against Sharapova, because she does well in all those areas as well, but she's no Ivanovic.

Ivanovic is definitely better looking.

Right now, Ivanovic is playing better. However, she just started improving her game and proved it by reaching the finals of some grand slams and winning one. Sharapova was already doing these and has been in a slump. So I'd have to say that Sharapova is a better player because she appears to have a better all-around game but I think Ivanovic will have the better game by the end of the year

well my husband fancies both of them!!!  i think Ivanovic is slightly stronger this year...Sharapova has gone now i think...but both very talented young ladies.

Both are good players, Ivanovic seems to have a more complete game and more variety but Sharapova's won more. Both are good looking, couldn't pick. The tiebreaker.- Sharapova's incessant screeching with every shot and the constant presence of her annoying father give the win to Ana Ivanovic.

Who's better?

Okay I know Ana just won her first slam and currently is the new world number 1, however she still has a lot to prove in my eyes. Personally while I believe her game has improved tremendously this year, and winning a slam and being number 1 has definitely given her a lot of confidence in her game, I still don't see her being a truly dominant number 1. She might win a couple more slams but I just don't see her dominating the game and her opponents that one would expect of a number 1 player. But it is worth to mention that she is still early in her career and therefore she has lot of time to prove me wrong.

As for Sharapova... if I had to rate which ones better? I would say Sharapova. Okay she is going through a mini-slump at the moment and had a horrible year last year. However Sharapova is someone you never count out. She has an incredible fighting spirit and you get the sense that even with this lost she had today, that it won't affect her much. I won't be surprise if she comes back and wins the US Open again.

Ivanovic on the other hand, lost to Davenport this year!!! Okay no disrespect to Lindsay, but c'mon Ana, you're the more inform player this year, and you also have the confidence level on your side, and you lose to Lindsay Davenport. Hmmm…

Then there is her losing streak to Elena Dementieva. Okay again no disrespect to Elena, because I like her, however Ana has never beaten Dementieva is four career meetings. Dementieva is a great player in her own right and she definitely can give you all kinds of problems when you are playing her. However it just seems that she is a streaky player in terms of the winning records she has against opponents. She can cause the occasional upset of a top rank player but always seem to be on the losing end of those matches, even though she is a top rank player herself. Therefore for Ana to have a losing record over Dementieva, someone who all the other top rank players seem to beat easily, is a bit confusing for me.

Who is better looking?

Ana is cute in a sweet girl next-door kinda way, but Sharapova (can’t deny it) is smoking hott!!! LOL

Dislikes?

In some of her past matches, Sharapova has a consistent record of not playing fairly. People always mention the grunting and yes it can be annoying at times, but I have gotten used to it and I don’t see it as that much of a big problem.

However I will never forget back in 2005/2006 the frequent bathroom breaks that Maria used to take during key moments of a match. I will admit that she has cut down on that these days and that’s a good thing. Then there is that infamous semifinal match she played against Tatiana Golovin at the Miami tournament in 2006 where she was booed heavily by the crowd for her unsportsmanlike behavior. Not to mention the stupid comments she has made whenever she has lost against her fellow Russian opponents.

But Maria has matured a lot from her early years. There is still to be done in my book LOL but in all fairness she has matured a lot. I believe her lackluster year she had last year may have contributed to her humbling herself a little more when she is out on the court these days.

As for Ana… well I don’t like her fist pumps. Only because I feel she doesn’t do it correctly. A fist pump is a sign of aggression and will to win. However every time Ana does the fist pump it comes across as a bit too nice rather than mean and aggressive!!! LOL Silly point, (I know) but it’s just my pet peeve I have with her. LOL I also feel like she has a lot more to prove before I can actually see her as that actual world number one. Right now I just feel like she is holding it until the real number comes along. LOL If she was to win Wimbledon then I would have to change my thoughts on this.

Their Game…

Ana has a beautiful game to watch. It’s not just power and aggression; she plays with more finesse and has more variety to her game than Sharapova.

Sharapova on the other hand, has that incredible will and desire to win and possesses that powerful ground stroke game. That’s always a plus and what I love about her game the most.

Sharapova has more career titles, more grand slam titles, earned more career prize money, has more endorsement deals, and overall has had way more success than Ivanovic.  Head-to-head, Sharapova leads their rivalry 3-2, including winning their last two matches in straight sets.  In the last year though, Ivanovic has a slightly better overall record, which is why she's ranked #1 at the moment, but the difference between their ranking points is very slim.  As far as their looks, I think they are both beautiful, but very different obviously, one being blonde, the other being a brunette.  I like both players, but as you can probably guess I prefer Sharapova.
