Make fabric beads.........tear strips of fabric and roll them round knitting needles and glue the end down.

Silk painting.....get squares of silk, slosh silk paint onto them and scatter salt crystals on it to discharge some of the colour.

Fabric painting with fabric pens.....each child brings in a white cotton T shirt to decorate.

Decorate trainers.....each child brings in tennis shoes to decorate with glitter, beads etc.

Make Easter cards.......provide pre-cut egg shapes and everything from paint to glitter glue to tissue paper to decorate them with.

Simple weaving.......cut slots in card and weave ribbons in and out of them

All of these are quite resource intensive, but most areas now have a resource library run by the local council where art supplies are available free for an annual membership.

i think you should try and work at the md.fox,hmms at learning corridor by the way hmms is,is in adress 47 i tell you the street name later.or just work being the lunchlady.in my school we have lunchlady's for 45 minutes or more i dont remember.

I think 9 -11 year olds may be a bit old for splatter painting they probably did that in kindi but the silk painting is a good idea because depending on their artistic ability they can either freehand draw with the gutta or put a picute under the silk and trace withg the gutta either way they will have fun watching the silk inks run especially if they have a gap in the gutta then they will really see them run.  Either way the finished result will look amazing.

Hi, I work for an out of school club during after school and school breaks for 4-12 year olds, here are some of art activities that I have done.

Marbling...In a large try with high sides to it,pour in some water,and a few drops of Marbling ink,places a sheet of paper on top for a few seconds remove to reveal a marble design on the paper.

Splat pictures..Place a very large piece of paper any colour,on the floor using used tea bags and a some poster paint that has been watered down a little, the children then soak the tea bags in the paint and let then drop them onto the paper you'll get a splat/ explosion effect on the paper,when paint is dry remove the tea bags.

Pasta/rice/lentils pictures and all you need as well is paper and glue

Snow Storm/snow globe. glue a small plastic toy to the bottom,of a lid to a glass jar make sure it's small enough to fit inside the jar leave to dry,when dry pour water into the jar and add a pinch or two of glitter, and s***w in the lid and glue around the edge where the lid meets the jar, turn upside down and hey-presto you have a snow globe.

Sand pictures. here children can paint a picture on paper with glue and sprinkle coloured sand on top,then pour of the remaining sand to reveal their pictures.

Spider-web pictures. using poster paint on paper,choose three colours, squeeze the paint into three circles one inside each other using the point of the end of a paint brush drag it from the centre circle to the front and go right around,as you do you'll see a sort of spider web pattern takes form.

Rubbing's. here children can go around getting different textures from different surfaces  from rubbing crayons onto paper.

Glass/Tile painting. with some glass jars or some kitchen/bathroom type tiles children can paint designs onto them using glass paint.

Sock puppets, using old socks (clean of course).children can glue or sow,things like buttons,googlies eyes,sequins.etc..

Junk Modelling. using array of cardboard boxes of all sizes,tubes,egg boxes,plastic bottles,etc the children can make what ever they want, from space ships,mobile phones,racing cars,houses,robots,

Clucking chickens, Using a white plastic disposable cup,punch a small hole into the bottom of it, and tread some cotton or string tie a knot,at the other end tie a small piece of sponge, now decorate the cup with a chicken crown cut from some red card that goes where the knot is to cover it up,you'll also need to cut a beak,some eyes or if you have those googlies type eyes use those,and you'll also need to cut out that dangle bit that hangs from a chickens chin I use a up-side down heart shape,so when you finished you'll have some sort of chicken, when dry soak the cotton/string  in water and using the sponge gently tug it down the string and your chicken should cluck.

Remember.. children's play is freely chosen and if they had fun doing the activities, then it's  been successful children's play doesn't always have to have a finial product.
