  1. So-called Area 51 is a government installation which is remote and secretive for a reason.  It's where cutting-edge flight and weapons testing takes place.  That's all there is to it.

  2. As revealed in documentaries, top secret airplanes was all tested there in the past during Cold War

U-2, SR-71, F-117A, B-2B, these are all the planes that was tested there. It is also said to have some Russian's MiG airplanes, for testing purposes

All the secrecy that surrounded Area 51 was due to Cold War. These ultra valuable aircraft technology cannot be discovered by Soviet, and its existance cannot be made known even to the Soviet spy that was in US during the cold war. So, Area 51 was made for that purpose

They absolutely cannot risk any of those technology falling into the hands of Soviet spys, thats why that airbase is so ultra secret and the government bought all the land surrounding the airbase to prevent public from seeing any activity there

  3. Elaborating upon what pd said...it is indeed a secretive military base with protection surrounding it for a fifty-mile circumference...up until recent years, its existence was actually denied by the government. Which raises suspicions, understandably so. However, former employee Robert Lazar is noted for his interviews in which he exposed the secret operations of back-engineering alien aircraft at the base. Later, he was arrested and taken into custody for *clears throat in completely unbiased manner* "tax evasion" - and has yet to be seen since then.

You judge the goings-on for yourself.

  4. Learn how to "Remote View" and find out for yourself.  The only validation you will ever get is what you know to be true or if you have a consensus of a very experienced group of remote viewers.
