Share price of Williams drops as the team struggles to perform in the 2011 Formula 1 season
Team Williams’ share price has dropped in the market as the team is currently struggling to perform and it is believed that this is the worst ever statistical start for the team in a season.
The co-owner of the team and its legendary technical boss, Patrick Head has shares of the team and according to some reports the price of the team has fallen around 27 percent since the beginning of the 2011 Formula 1 season due to its poor performance.
It is believed that the biggest loser in this matter is the Dutch investor Cyrte who has around 5 percent of Williams’ shares. Cyrte has now lost €3.3 million from its total ownership.
“I can't see any motivation at all for a brand to align with a team that has made such a fundamentally flawed decision. I didn't see why Patrick Head was so determined to offload his entire stock in the business at a time when Williams has had a long period
without any great success on track,” said the sponsorship consultant of the team Julian Cottam.
The team has been unable to perform up to the mark even though at first it was believed that Williams might even perform alongside the top running teams of the sport as they were looking pretty decent during the pre-season testing period.
Williams were unable give a decent performance since the beginning of the season as they could not qualify until the Q2 session during the qualifying rounds of the opening races of the ongoing season.
However, the team is hoping to improve its performance before the upcoming race which is expected to take place in Turkey in two weeks time but it is believed that their chances of scoring points until the next couple of races are bleak.
Let’s see if they manage to turn the tables and outperform some of the other mid-running teams in the next race of the season.
