Share your international volunteering experiences here?

I really would like to volunteer abroad, so that I can experience new culture, while doing something worthwhile and meeting new people. I lack funds, however, since I'm jobless in high school. I'd probably have to sell snacks and things to raise money. Have you ever volunteered abroad, or fundraised for yourself? Share your experiences! :-)

my friends and i are starting a campagin for Free the Children!! (visit: www.freethechildren.com). we're having some difficulty with ideas too, but selling snacks sounds great!
