Shared Account looking to bag the Canadian Stakes to get back on winning ways
The 5-year-old mare, Shared Account, after her non-threatening run in the Grade 3 Gallorette Handicap, where she finished fifth, is now showing a great deal of interest in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes at Woodbine racecourse on 18 September, 2011.
Among 13 distaffers, Shared Account will run over a distance of 1 1/8 miles on grass, and it will mark only the second start of the year for the Graham Motion trained mare.
The Canadian mare has attracted some talented females, with the likes of Bay to Bay and Mekong Melody, who were the third and fourth finishers in the Diana Stakes.
The Irish bred Mekong Melody had a very good 2010 season where she went on to win three stakes' races and came to America to participate in the Diana and then the Grade 2 Ballston Spa at Saratoga.
The Grade 2 Nassau Stakes' winner and the runner-up in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly Stakes, both on grass, Bay to Bay will be sizing up Shared Account come 18 September.
On the other hand, the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf winner of 2010, Shared Account will be ready to give her best in her second start of the season, to redeem herself of her 4th place finish in the Gallorette Handicap.
The daughter of Pleasantly Perfect, out of Silk N’ Sapphire by Smart Strike, Shared Account will break from post number 8, ridden by jockey Edgar Prado.
Last November at Churchill Downs, Shared Account defeated the prominent Irish invader, Midday, over a distance of 1 3/8 miles in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf.
Shared Account had two wins last year and turned in a runner-up, 4th and 5th finish, once each, out of 5 starts.
The experienced mare will be looking to get back on winning ways, but she will have to face 13 other talented fillies and mares to grab that opportunity.
Another prominent female is last year's Canadian Stakes' winner, Miss Keller, who has run unplaced in her last four starts.
