  1. Not spelt like that it's not, no.  Usually Shar'iah is the spelling for the meaning 'God's law'.

  2. I would most probably think it has something to do with Sharia's law, and therefore would not advise you to pick that name!

How about similar names, such as:

    Shara

    Sharee

    Shari

    Sharla

    Sharlene

    Sharon

    Sharpay

    Hope this helps x

  3. Well Sharia is the world for Islamic religious law....

  4. um, I definitely would NOT name your child after the overly-conservative, discriminatory Islamic governing law...

Edit: Actually s****. your logic is poor, and does not follow. "Dean" as a name has English origin, it means "valley" or "church leader". When people hear this name, they do not think of what it means in Arabic, because of the fact it is of English origin. "Sharia" on the other hand is clearly of Arabic origin...the word is Arabic for "way" or "path". When people hear Sharia, they think of its connection to Islam, because it IS connected to Islam. Please do not spam these boards with your flawed logic.

  5. I hope not....

  6. It really does remind me of Sharia law and a whole bunch of terrorists. Why not Charia instead?

  7. I don't know but I wouldn't call my child it, the people who support that bring shame on all REAL Muslims.

  8. All these answers are poor, a name is a name, most meanings are irrelevant as they can be translated in different languages giving different words.  dean is a fairly common name, means religion in islam. do you really think people will stop calling there kids dean just because it could be associated with islam. Sharia sounds like a nice name, if your child was called sharia i doubt she would be discriminated against because of her name.  if anything people like weird sounding names.

  9. first of all where did u get that name from the sharia law)if yes then why is it a problem

its only a name ,, a name never makes a difference
