Sharks in Costa Rica?

One of my friends owns land in Costa Rica and she said that there were only sharks on the Pacific side. I told my family that and they all started laughing and said it wasn't true. So is it true??

there are sharks on both sides of Costa Rica's coast; but that's not unusual if you recall there are lots of sharks off the coast of Florida as well.   But it should not deter you from enjoying a swim or going fishing, they are not abundantly populating the shores yet..... so there's no need to panic; just know that sharks are everywhere these days.

Their are sharks on both sides.  The attacks on the Pacific side may be getting more press, so your friend might think otherwise.
