Sharmila Nicollet looking for another victory
Sharmila Nicollet is feeling very confident after her win at the first round of the Hero-KGA Women’s Pro Golf 2012.
Nicollet played an excellent game in the opening event of the tour. She was up against top talent that India has to offer. Her win is a clear demonstration of the fact that her game has improved considerably and all the efforts that she put in the Ladies
European Tour matches were not in vain.
The victory in the first leg of the season has done wonders for Nicollet. She was very excited about it and said that she hope to repeat the performance again in the coming events.
Talking about her boost in morale, she said, “The win last week has done wonders to my confidence and am looking forward to another productive week here”.
The win at the opening match of the season is very important for Nicollet. She usually does not play in India very much. For Nicollet, the match served as an introduction to the local stars and the playing conditions.
She played a couple of practice rounds to prepare for the next stage of the season. The next stage will be played at the lush Clover Greens. This course is located just outside the city of Bangalore.
This course will present a very different set of problems to Nicollet. The greens are on the rough side and the field is considered tricky at best. Experts say that the best strategy of playing the course is to focus on the short game.
The idea is to play the ball straight and avoid the rough outfield. The greens could trick the player into lobbing a long shot but here the greens themselves are uneven.
Rough patches of grass alternate with smooth ones and the player is well adviced to avoid the rough edges of the greens.
This second stage will prove to be a real test of Nicollet’s skills. She is known for her long shots. When it comes to short game, she lags behind and this is her most important shortcoming.
Sharmila Nicollet is a very confident player who is looking forward to winning the prize fund for this season’s game.
